Bome Network

Bome Network Diagram

Overview

Bome Network is a versatile solution for creating reliable and low-latency MIDI connections over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Available for macOS, Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi, and iOS, it makes it easy to connect computers, mobile devices, and MIDI hardware across your network.

Its integrated MIDI Router gives you complete control over how MIDI data is routed between devices. All Bome Network connections are persistent, automatically reconnecting after a restart.

Use with the BomeBox

Bome Network makes it easy to connect your computer to one or more BomeBoxes over Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Any MIDI application on your computer can send MIDI data to a BomeBox and receive MIDI from it. You can also access MIDI devices connected to the BomeBox directly using Remote Direct MIDI, forwarding selected devices—or all of them—over the network.

For even greater convenience, clicking the world icon opens the BomeBox web configuration interface for the selected device.

Add-On Bome Network Pro: Computer-to-Computer MIDI

With a Bome Network Pro license, you can create reliable, low-latency network MIDI connections between computers, Macs, PCs, iPhones, and iPads. Devices running Bome Network Pro are automatically discovered on the network, allowing you to connect to exactly the systems you want with just one click.

Using Remote Direct MIDI, you can also access virtual MIDI ports and physical MIDI devices on remote computers and mobile devices as if they were connected locally. Simply choose the ports and devices you want to make available, and Bome Network takes care of the rest.

Add-On: Bome MIDI Translator BN

Run Bome MIDI Translator Pro project files directly in Bome Network. Integrate your MIDI translations and mappings seamlessly with both local and network MIDI ports and devices.

In addition to macOS and Windows, Bome MIDI Translator BN also lets you run your translation projects on Linux, Raspberry Pi, iPhone, and iPad, bringing the power of Bome MIDI Translator Pro to even more platforms.

Note: Creating and editing translation projects still requires Bome MIDI Translator Pro.

Add-On: Unlimited Named MIDI Ports

The Unlimited Named MIDI Ports add-on lets you create as many custom virtual MIDI ports as you need. These ports are available in both the Bome Network MIDI Router and any other MIDI application on your computer. You can expose these virtual ports on the network as Direct MIDI ports.

Use custom ports to split or duplicate MIDI streams, build more flexible routing setups, and organize your MIDI workflow with meaningful, easy-to-recognize port names.

FAQ

I cannot find the Bome Network icon

On macOS, the B icon is present in the top menu bar.
On Windows, you can find the green B icon in the tray. By default, Windows hides such tray icons in an overflow area and you need to press the arrow symbol near the clock in the task bar to see all available tray icons. Use the task bar settings to make the B icon visible at all times.

Does it work via Windows Remote Desktop (MSTSC/RDP)?

Yes, but you need to configure it for remote audio:

  1. Click on Local Resources
  2. Select Settings in Remote Audio
  3. Select Play on Remote Computer

Note for MacOS users: please use the latest version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop tool (from the Mac App Store). Also in the Mac remote desktop client, enable “Play sound on the remote PC”.
