Midi CC (pot) to mouse up/down – use rules to mitigate skipping values


Hi. Currently evaluating MT for this specific task. Don’t need it for anything else so would like to make sure it’s possible before purchasing.
Hovering the mouse cursor over a knob in a DAW (Logic X). Trying to replicate the feel of a controller assigned through the DAW. But obviously turning the control too fast skips values which degrades the response. I need it to be spot on for fast tweaking. Slowly getting an understanding of rules. I’ve worked out how to use separate Translators for mouse up and down. But I can’t work out how to construct rules to achieve a smooth response. Seems like it’s possible but no success so far.

I’ve had a look at the Tranzport example project but I can’t see how timers would help.

hmmm, I’m not sure what the exact problem is. You’re positioning (hovering) the mouse over a control, and then what? Which action is not smooth?

Hi, just doing a little follow-up here. Where you able to solve your problem? If not, maybe you can better describe the behavior and I can help.
From what I understand you are using a pot to control mouse movement but it is not smooth. As you move the pot, does the mouse cursor t jerk? If so, is it still jerking with just a change of value of 1? How many pixels do you move the mouse for each value of 1 on your pot? Maybe you are moving too many pixels? Maybe in addition to clarifying the behavior, you can post your project file so I can take a look.

Hi, please find the attached MT Pro file for knob mouse movement. One knob for up/down, another for left/right, and a button to push and hold for fine adjustment. I hope this will show you the power of what Bome MT Pro can do.

You will need to re-program¬†inputs for the CC #’s and notes that you will be using. ¬†This was set up with Windows 10 and using Midi Fighter Twister controller which I had pre-programmed to use with Abelton live. In my case the knobs and the buttons are the same unit. Twist a a knob for cc value and push on same knob for note (fine tune).

So I can twist the knob and if it doesn’t land on the right place, I push and twist to the exact pixel I want.

Also there are global variables for setting the screen size and initial knob position. If you screen size is different, you will need to adjust those as well.
