Launchpad X for keyswitching in Cubase/Win

Is anybody using a Novation Launchpad for keyswitching in Cubase ?

If so, could you please provide any details as to how you do it (presumably with MIDI Translator Pro).

Or is there an alternative ?  AFAIK the keypads on the Launchpads are not re-programmable to any desired MIDI Note ON message (presumably which would thereby emulate the effect of depressing a MIDI piano key used conventionally for keyswitching).

But I am assuming MIDI Translator Pro could intercept these keypad MIDI messages outgoing from the Launchpad X and translate them to the desired MIDI Note on messages corresponding to and emulating the effect of depressing a MIDI piano keyswitch key, no ?

By the term keyswitching, do you mean using a Launchpad as a keyboard for performance mode? This is entirely possible, just send the MIDI notes that the Launcpad sends to a MIDI track in Cubase. And yes, if you want to remap the notes it sends, this is entirely possible with Bome MIDI Translator Pro.

Yes, I want to use the keypads of Launchpad as substitutes for the low register MIDI piano keys that are normally used for ”keyswitching” (e.g. changing the articulations in a given library running as a VSTi in Cubase such as changing a trumpet staccato articulation to a legato).
Presumably Cubase sees these MIDI piano ”keyswitch” key depressions as MIDI note ONs (out of range of the other piano keys that play audible notes in the are in the given instrument’s range). And each of these ”keyswitch” keys is mapped to a different articulation of the library.
So I just want to use the Launchpad keys instead of the MIDI piano keys for this purpose.
I am not sure in the Launchpad if each pad is sending a different CC number or if they are sending a different MIDI note number.
But I do know they are not able to be changed and I’m stuck with whatever the Launchpad keypads are sending out. I just need to transform them to whatever Cubase libraries are looking for to effect the articulation changes.

Yes, this type of transformation is quite Simple with Bome MIDI Translator Pro.

This tutorial should help.
