Latest Version: Raw MIDI to Simple MIDI

Hey, sorry for this one. Weather going bad so brain no functioning and for the life of me I can't find info in the manual (most likely because it hasn't been updated yet...?) nor in Support forums or in the Update info.

Re: Convert Raw MIDI to Simple MIDI

Raw MIDI is pretty damn simple, so...whut? I'm in the software and trying to figure out what the heck that means.

Hi Jim,

Here is an example of raw MIDI

90 01 7F

Converting to simple MIDI would produce

Note-On MIDI channel 1 Note 01 velocity 127

It can be found in the MIDI dropdown menu of Bome MIDI Translator Pro. Save your old file first as once you convert it, there is no turning back (except manually).

Anything like this should not convert as there would be no way the tool could figure out what we are converting to.

Thanks Steve!

I was confused. You’ve shared what “normal” people understand.
To me, 90 01 7F is simpler than drop down boxes. 🙂

“Back in the old days…”

Yes, but for many users that don’t understand MIDI, it could be confusing.

Hi!
i see in Log window:
B0 11 29
im trying to make it look like
ch 1 cc 16 125
i press MIDI>Convert raw midi to simple midi
and program says to me:
No midi action could be converted from Raw to Simple Midi…

what am i doing wrong?

Hi,

The MIDI message needs to either be in the incoming or outgoing MIDI of a given translator before conversion will occur by MT Pro.

If you create a translator and then select “Capture MIDI” in either incoming or Outgoing of that translator and then double click it to put it into the incoming or outgoing field, then you can see the MIDI message in its converted form.

If you click the gear icon and select raw capture, it will show it in raw form, you can then convert it as you had tried.

Note B0 11 29 is CC 17 on MIDI channel 1 with value of 41.

For Ch1 cc 16 value 125, it would be B0 10 7D
