Connecting an ipad

I have one a cursory look through and can’t find a thread which addresses this.

I have an (old ) ipad, and I have just installed pd party.

I’d like to control the parameters of pd patches via midi wirelessly.

Seems to me there are three options :

  1. bluetooth midi
  2. apple network midi
  3. bome box network midi

I can get my mac and my ipad to communicate via 1 & 2 easily enough.

I am not having much luck with 3

my main reason for doing so would be to bypass the mac entirely and have external devices control the ipad (a Peavey 1600 to be exact)

I can do this via the mac.. but this seems uneccesary as I think I can just just use the bome box..

Also.. latency performance – is there any advantage of 2 over 1 ? or 3 over 1 & 2 ?

Thanks

Bome Network on IPAD is currently not supported. Right now options 1 and 3 are your only choice. I’m pretty sure the Bome is working on an ios solution but do not have a timeline. If you want to bypass your Mac/PC you will probably need to go with option 1 right now.  I have used rtMIDI to communicate between my Iphone and Windows PC and the Bome Network to route my signals out to BomeBox. But as you say, you want to bypass Mac/PC and go directly to BomeBox
