apc40 - apc 20

Best regards. I could help to connect with the Bomes MIDI translator my apc40 and APC 20 with Grandma OnPc because I are giving the same note on each of the buttons and fader. Thanks a lot

Hi, you can remap the faders, buttons, etc using Bome MIDI translator Pro to either different notes or to notes on other MIDI channels.

I recently did a remapping exercise on an APC-40 MK2 to put out unique notes for DOT2 for PC. I posted the project file on this thread.

You should be able to use it as a model for what you are trying to do. Of course if you have an APC40 MK1 and APC-20, then the mapping will be different but the technique for doing it is the same.

In general I leave all buttons alone on a single controller and let them pass through as normal.

Then for faders and knobs, I have to figure out what unique output to provide that doesn’t collide with the original buttons. Usually a different MIDI channel

For another controller, you would do the same (define unique outputs).

For instance you could but all buttons on APC40 to MIDI CH1. Knobs to MIDI CH 2, faders to MIDI CH3, then on the APC20 make all buttons map to MIDI CH4, knobs to MIDI CH5 and faders to MIDI CH6.

I don’t think GMA2 allows for multiple controllers.

Greetings Steve. The grandma detects several drivers so I have a problem in the notes of my apc20 that are the same as the apc40 in buttons and fader. But I do not know if changing the channel as you say is going to work since each midi note has assigned the channel that is true? Example: channel 1 note 60. And I do not have the apc40 ak2 is the normal one.

I am new to the bomes midi translator any help you give me I thank you

Yes, each APC will transmit on the same channels, however you can change the output channels of either APC (MIDI controller within). Instead of looking at your APC with GrandMA, you will need to set it up so that you are looking at both APC’s with Bome MIDI Translator Pro, and then converting and merging the information out to one Virtual Output port which GrandMA would use. There are examples on this forum for others that used two controllers simultaneously. I think even APC20 with APC40. Certainly APC-40 with APC-MINI.

APC20 —-> Bome —> Virtual Port 1 – GMA2
APC40 ——–^

Oh, and if you are not in the mood for learning this stuff. Just send me an email and I’ll be happy to quote you to create a project file to handle all of the mapping for you. Then all you would need is us use GrandMA to set up the newly mapped controls.
