HUI to Mackie Controll.

Is there any preset to go from HUI to Mackie Control?

I just bought Translator Pro. I'd be great to use my DM24 with Sonar to the fullest. Ah well. If not, I'll make one. It will be fun.

I'm not sure there's any presets floating around the forums that do that, but if you get one put together please feel free to share it. :)

I have a SI24 (Roland studio Pro Package II) and a DM24 both connected to a UM880. And a FCB1010. And on the side a Roland RD150 and a Korg Kontrol49. Would be sweet to create a layout to get more grip on my Sonar X-1... Ah. We'll see...

The SI-24 has cool lights. Any button can be green and red or orange... Hmmm how can I find out what the midi message of a colour is...

I found this through google. On page 26 there's a walkthrough on setting LED MIDI events, and then saving those presets to your computer. :) Hope that helps.

Awesome. Yeah. In the SI24 I can create a user template. There is allready a SI24.dll wich is the same for the VS2480. Because the SI24 is simply a scaled down 2480. Two faders less and a joystick added. Now if I can get the DM24 going in a somewhat handier way than either HUI or the MMC it'll be neat...

Ah well, I have a reasonable setup allready... Nothing to complain really...

That's pretty awesome. Thank you so much. I tried it today. But was unsuccesfull. But it's a new application for me so I have a lot to learn...

As off now I don't have my MTC (midi time code) anymore on my DM24... So that's a bummer. I hope to fix that soon. Is Pro allways active or only when the application is started? Should it be visible? (wich would be annoying having only 1 screen..)..

DvlsAdvct

2012-08-20 21:54:03

It can be minimized. Once it's open it's running. If you're on windows the little MIDI icon should be in the system tray as long as MT is open.

Muziekschuur

Hmmm.

I use a midi outcoming port route to a bome virtual port and go from a bome virtual port back to a midi incoming port ( I use a Edirol UM880 (8x8)). But the preset does not seem to work. I deleted an ESI 1000 DSP midi I/O used in the preset... I have Mackie Control enabled in Sonar and HUI enabled in the DM24. Too bad...

You mean in MIDI Translator?

Yes. And the manual is there...

sorry, the help file thing is a bug in Midi Translator on Windows (Windows 7 recently introduced an incompatibility).

You can fix this by:

1) right-clicking on the MT icon in the start menu (and all other places, e.g. Desktop from where you start MT)

2) select "Properties"

3) select and Copy the "Target" path. For me it is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bome's Midi Translator Pro\MidiTranslator.exe"
(with quotes)

4) paste the path into the "Start In" field below, then edit and remove the filename part, but keep the quotes:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bome's Midi Translator Pro"

Now, the help should work!

Of course this will be fixed in the next version.

Florian

I now have the D8B HUI file to MCU translator loaded. The DM24 ports are setup in the template. And the virtual ports are active in Sonar. But no translation happens. I do have the midi monitor setup and i do see messages coming in.

Hi,

Ive tried the setup w sonar..and it seems there is some sort of handshaking that sonar requires...ive tested the setup using a d8b's HUI layer with Reaper and Reason...works well.

If u can identify what commands sonar expects to receive at initialization, we could put that translation into the bomes preset.

Do u have any other MCU recognizing software to test with?

Guido

EDIT the only other thing i can think of is what HUI commands the DM24 supports...I had the docs here somewhere^^

Muziekschuur

2012-10-03 09:12:20

Yes. I have Nuendo.

I will try that. Thank you for your hard work. Since I do not have a true MCU I can't sniff the handshake Sonar requests...

Thank you for looking into this.

I did some research and the Mackie Controll Sonar is expecting is MODE 1. Now I really don't know how to send that... But that's what's Sonar is expecting to complete the handshake.

I realise I do have Touchdaw on my tablet. So I will go and sniff.

Muziekschuur

2012-10-03 10:15:09

I have sniffed and this is what I've seen.

sysx: f0 00 00 66 14 01 74 64 1 77 31 33 30 4b 34 58 47 F7

90 18 7F 1 C 1 note on
90 18 00 1 C 1 note off
90 19 7F 1 C# 1 note on
90 19 00 1 C# note off

This is what my touchdaw app sends to Sonar. I could not get midi yoke installed to sniff what was send back.

Hi,

Sry i have been busy...lazy..sry...

Are u running Windows 7? i think there is a solution fro the install...moment....

http://help.touch-able.com/kb/installat ... -windows-7....

im on Xp..

i will look into this more tonite..i mean the hui sonar/dm24 thing.

Guido

Do uhave the DM24 application .zip from the tascam site?

Muziekschuur

2012-10-05 23:25:41

Yes. I was moderator (tascamforums) there. But since I have the Roland SI24 too it would be neat (The SI24 has a HUI mode too) to let them work together. Then you can have 1 6 channels. And you can move the blok of 16 faders 1 fader at a time or 16 faders at a time. Wich is pretty neat.

So that's why I was looking in this whole translation thing. If I use Nuendo. Both controllers even cover the same area. You can move the SI24 over the hui. You move one fader on the screen and two faders move on two remote controllers. So WAI (where am I) is totally lost.

Under 64 bit only Mackie Controll and the VS700 are still supported. MMC and everything else is out the door. The SI24.dll is a 32bit dll and there will be no 64 bit version...

Oh and I my laptop is on Vista (32) my studio machine is dualboot 32 and 64 bit win7.

The man behind MIDI Yoke. Is a Cakewalk programmer now... (Since I think 5/6 years).

Thanks,

Frans

Hi,

I see.

The above info will help u install midi ox on ur 7 machines.

I am dl the Roland manual now..I see it has a very complete midi implementation...Roland of course^^....

I dont know how sonar works..or nuendo for that matter..but it makes sense that both units are hitting the same targets. In Logic there is a setup page where u define which of your multiple CSs target what Logic controls.

Could u use on in hui mode and one in another mode? Fishin now....sry

I updated my laptop to win7 32bit this weekend.

The SI-24 can switch between Logic mode, Protools mode and Cubase mode. And two other user templates. Wich I probably should start to program.

My Tascam DM24 does only HUI. So that one def. needs the translation. When I used Protools 7.4 and 10 I could use HUI on both controllers and there I had 16 combined faders. Wich could move one fader at a time and as 16 faders at a time. I could even use the last fader on the far right controller to controll channel 1. And then choose one fader more in use and so on untill all 16 faders were back in use. So all and all the HUI protocol on Protools works pretty awesome.

I uninstalled those Protools versions. And went back to Sonar X2. As this is my main daw.

Hope to get this going... I built me a special desk just for those two controllers. And I'll get them going...

Hi,

Im afraid all i can try to help u with is getting sonar to talk/listen to the dm24 thru my bomes preset.

If u can sniff what is sent/received between sonar and an mcu ..or equivalent ..especially at initialization...i believe then i can help.

What u sent me above ..the sys ex and the note on stuff....looks like mcu text display..the sys ex..and track mute/ unmute status..the note on /offs

Thank you. I will. I'm getting accustomed to WIN7 on this laptop. I had a gazzilion updates.. After first install.. Do I run windows 7 or do I run a patch. If Windows 7 were a car it would have som many repairs it would not be sellable..

I found this through google. On page 26 there's a walkthrough on setting LED MIDI events, and then saving those presets to your computer. :) Hope that helps.
May I ask what is the exact keyword you typed in on Google? Image

Assigning midi i/o of the tablet to midi ox. And assigning the midi yoke connections to Sonar does not seem to give me a read out....

Sometimes I feel so stupid...
