OSX 1.6.2 Problem Executing File

Hi there,

New to Bome. My problem is I can't seem to get MT to execute files. My goal is to use MT to open Abelton sessions saved on my desktop via a MIDI keyboard. According to the log, I am currently getting "MIDI IN" and "OUT" from/to my keyboard as well as "Router Out." I have the "execute file" option pointing to the file in question. Not sure what to do...

PS. It won't open any type of file (.doc, .pdf), not just a problem with .als (Abelton) files.

Hi,

Anyone have any pointers?

Hi 1234,

I don't understand why this is not working for you, I have just tested this feature and it works fine for me still. Are you using a Mac or PC? And have you maybe moved the file?

I'm on a MAC, os x 10.6. Is there a place the file needs to be saved for this to work? The file has not moved from where I told MT to look for it (the desktop).

Thanks anyways Scott, I'll keep working on it. I may have a work around, but its less cool and I was all excited to try the MT out!

I am also using Mac OSX 10.6. I really don't know why this isn't working for you.

I just selected the file from the directory window that pops up in MT when you select this output type.

Sorry I couldn't be any more help!

This is very frustrating, hoping to hear from someone at Bome...

Really...I'm a little hesitant to buy the full version. This is the main feature that I was testing with the trial...

Thanks again Scott.

I just spoke with Florian, and he tells me this should work in the trial version. Can you show me your exact file path?

Yes, how should I do that?

When you select a file from the browser, it should write a path in the box?

Hi, I think I solved it.

OK, so when I captured MIDI messages from my keyboard, it captured two messages. xx xx 3D and xx xx 00. The former message would not trigger the execute file output. However, the xx xx 00 did execute the file.

Now, my only problem is that my foot pedal (which is what I ultimately want to use) only outputs the former type of message (e.g. B0 17 7F).

What is the difference between these kinds of messages? I wish I understood MIDI better:( Feel free to throw me a keyword or link to chase down, lol.

Thanks again Scott!

Ben

XX YY 7F is a Note ON message, XX YY 00 is a Note OFF. You really should 'capture' the ON message only.

Good spot! I'm glad this is working for you now...
