Hi Hat Control

Hi - I have a Yamaha DTXPlorer midi drum kit and it has a Hi Hat control pedal. How do I select Hi Hat closed sound with the pedal down and hi hat open with the pedal up when I strike the hit hat pad?

Pressing the pedal sends Ghash1 and a Foot Control (Coarse) message and on release just the Foot Control (Coarse) message.

Such a fool! Turns out the hi hat pad sends a different message depending on whether the pedal is pressed or not! So two rules - one for hi hat open and one for hi hat closed. And the pedal set to hi hat tight!
