APC40 Traktor pro hotcues Problem

Can someone with an APC40 check this for me.
Ok - i'm converting the note on messages of each of the pads to a cc message. Top row 1-8
i'm then mapping the pads 1-8 to the 8 hotcues.
So here's the problem
when i press pad 1 the first time it triggers hotcue 1, pressing it again does nothing.
i'm converting pad 1 = CC60 channel 1 vel 127 (7f)
Its really strange cus it works if i map hotcue 1 to a note on message.

Really really strange.

Hi Joseph,

Hotcues should only properly work with Note ON messages, why are you trying to map CC messages?

Hi mate - Thats not correct

I have a bCR2000 and this works fine when mapping CC's to hotcues.
I want to use bomes to create a Traktor pro template.
i.e one preset for basic transport functions, another for Hotcues.

It seems like traktor isn't likeing converted messages from Bomes for the Hotcues.
Transport controls are working fine with converted toggle messages.
Attigo can you try this on your setup?

It will work, but not properly. As far as I know, I think the reason it is not working, is because you can't set Traktor up to receive a particular CC value, just a message. Because a CC is a variable message, you can't map a certain value of that variable number...

You can't map exactly B0 01 09 (for example), Traktor will just use B0 01 xx.

Does that make sense?

Can you show me your Translators?

Will do - Whats your email?
or ping me a quick email Joseph.perkins@mediacom.com

You can just copy and paste your translators as code on the forums...

Did you see the previous post? Do you understand?

Sorry i don't think my fist post was clear. I'm not mapping different velocities.
Just a different cc messages like you said:
Pad 1 B0 01 xx
Pad 2 B0 02 xx
Pad 3 B0 03 xx an so on.

I've used MTPro with lots of midi controllers and software and know i'm not doing anything out the ordinary.

Traktor will only react to the first message. if i press say pad 1 again (nothing)
I can however go between two hotcues say (press pad 1, then pad 2, then pad 1)
This is really weird behaviour.
I just to confirm if this is a bug in either mtpro of traktor.
Can you test the above, and confirm if it work for you?

Ok, I'll check just now. I have an MPD32 and TPro. Are your Pads velocity sensitive?

Scott

josephperkins

No the APC40's pad are not velocity sensative.

converting a note on message to another still doesn't work. Same behaviour
This is really fustrating

Edit: I didn't read the thread accurately - misunderstood the function you were working on. Sorry 'bout that!

Hi Joseph,

I finally got round to playing with this, and I think I know what it is. You need to send a Note OFF as well. This is why it was working the first time and then again after you have pressed another button...

Here is the translators you will need to use, for the example I have used the very top left button on the APC and translated it to CC Channel 1 Note C# (01).

Code: Select all

Translator 0: Note ON to CC
Options: stop=false
Incoming: MIDI 90 35 7F
Outgoing: MIDI B0 01 7F

Translator 1: Note OFF to CC
Options: stop=false
Incoming: MIDI 80 35 7F
Outgoing: MIDI B0 01 00
The Note ON sends the CC with full velocity and the Note OFF sends 0.

Here is how I have it mapped into Traktor aswell, working great for me...

has anyone tried using this with serato scratch ? i have everything midi mapped. but hate that i cant light anything up on the apc40

Attigo

As far as I know, Serato do not openly support MIDI Feedback in Scratch Live, hopefully soon though, especially with the introduction of 'The Bridge'.

Keep your eyes on the Serato Forums for updates...

henrygq

all im tryin to do is to control the lights in the apc40 to do what i want them to do(color/flashing wise) while controlling the loop rollls and cue points in serato.

What is it you guys are trying to do? You won't be able to get LED feedback from Serato but you can make the LEDs do anything with Midi Translator...

Give me some more details and I will see what I can do...

ok...

i have the akai all midi mappedout to scratch and mix emergency(a video program)
i love the akai apc40, but it doesnt light up at all, except when u hit a button, it will turn green...

i want all the buttons to turn on...

this is for the lft deck(deck 1)
at the top.. the first 2 rows.. i want the first 2 rows to be green.. and when u hit and its in a loop roll... it will flash.

the the 3rd row, i want to be one with the color red.when u hit hit hit it... it does nothing.. seeing how that is the cue point play. the 4th row... will be the color orange, and too will do nothing but stay that color.. that will be set as a my setting of the cue points.

this is for the right deck(deck 2)
the 5th row will be the same as the the 3rd row... it will be ur cue play points, so the color of this row will be red, and when u hit it, it does nothing.. the 6th row will orange and that is for setting the cue points.

the 7th and 8th row row is back to the loops rolls and this of course will be green, but will be green, but when hit it will flash, signifying that its turned on and that it is in loop roll.

i will photoshop a picture of how i have it mapped out, if u didnt understand..

I can do this for you, but are you aware that Serato does not send any MIDI output, so the LEDs will just be triggered by what you press on the APC, controlled from MT...

Scott

thebuttonfreak

2010-03-09 22:44:44

What is MT?

Attigo

2010-03-09 22:47:06

Midi Translator

thebuttonfreak

2010-03-09 22:55:00

so there is no way to link SSL to MT? hmmm....how would you synchronize it with SSL then?

Attigo

2010-03-10 01:42:02

SSL does not send MIDI output, not to standard users anyway, so we will have to control the APC LEDs from within Midi Translator. You can obviously send MIDI to SSL from the APC though...

Hey Scott,

Just been reading the post you guys had a while ago about serato and akai apc40. I am dealing with the same problem. I have Serato nice mapped out on the akai and it works smooth. although the lights wont do anything then light up when you push them. So i downloaded a trial of MT to see if i could control the lights with this program. I find it very hard to understand the programming or mapping code with the MT. I managed to change the color if i push a button. but it doesnt stay on.

So i am not borderd if serato does not comunicate back with midi, serato does work fine with the apc as it is. The only thing i want is the control the lights with MT. so i guess that MT works in midi through?? I would like to have all the lights lighting up by startup, i did put stickers on the buttons so i know what i got where but i cant see it in dark club. and i want to be able to chance the color if i do an action...

Anyone could help me here how to program this?

Cheers a lot Winfried

Hi Winfried,

To just control the lights, you want MT to receive from you APC and have 2 virtual outputs from MT. One going to Serato, sending the messages messages have mapped, and the other goes back out to the APC.

You can use this APC MIDI diagram to figure what messages you need to send back and how to change their colour.

(there is a linked PDF near the bottom posted by me)

Hope this helps!

Ok, cheers for this,

I can manage to light it up in a different color when i push the button, and when i release it turns of again

Just wondered what code do i use to get apc to light up without touching any buttons?

cheers for your help so far.
