Any experience with the Novation LaunchKey?

Hello,

I own an M-Audio Oxygen IV 61.
Even though I like the Oxygen's functions, I plan to sell it and to buy a Novation Launchkey 61 MK2.
The reason is simple: The keys of the Oxygen IV are really really crappy in my opinion.
It's like playing on a 10 € toy.

I saw that the Launchkey has more options (drum pads) and more buttons.
So it won't just have better keys (I hope they will be better!) but also more options.

My question:
Has anyone made any experience with the Launchkey and its functions with BOME MIDI Translator Pro?
It has for example two track buttons in order to make track 10 till 19 out of track 1 till 9.
Furthermore it has 16 velocity sensitive drum pads which have partly different functions.

For some options the manual says an "inControl mode" is needed.

Long story short:
Are all keys and buttons of the Launchkey usable and changeable with BOME Midi Translator Pro?

Thanks for any help!

Hi Scr1pter

I actually own a Launchkey MK1, and all of the buttons send MIDI EXCEPT

MIDI Track buttons
Incontrol buttons

Which are used for direct integration with the Launchkey/Launchpad App and, I believe, direct integration with DAWs.

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, I was assuming that these buttons are for internal control only.
But I think it will be possible to have advantage of them anyway.
Even if not, the 16 drum pads can give me a big option (when each of them have different options.)
E.g. Drum pad 1 is for Sync Start, 2 is for opening an editor, 3 for lowest key range etc.
(I guess such programmings will definitely be possible with MTP)

A question:
How is the key pressure of the device in your opinion?
I have a Yamaha DJX-II, a Yamaha PSR-E443 and a Novation Bass Station II.
For all these 3 devices the key pressure is pretty similar - it's good for me.
On the M-Audio Oxygen IV it is, as mentioned, bad in my opinion.
You can press them with minimum strength and they already move.

Maybe I can find out what weight (grams) is needed to press the keys.
(To have a measurable value.)

I'm not a piano player at all, but the keys feel fine. I think they feel a little looser than the Bass Station. That information, though, might be available straight from Novation.

I'm no piano player either.
Honestly, playing on a piano makes no fun to me.

I like the lighter keys, but they should not be too light.
E.g. I placed an AA battery on a key of the M-Audio Oxygen IV, and it already went down for some millimeters.
On the other devices this did not happen.
(Just to give you some orientation.)

Yes, I already asked Novation some weeks ago.
Their answer was that the keys of the LaunchKey and the BS2 are not the same.
So your statement makes sense.

Best regards
