One AKAI LPD8 with both Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live

Here's a way to use a single LPD8 simultaneously in Live and SSL, using MIDi Translator Pro:
  1. In both Live and SSL, disable LPD8 as MIDI Input (also close the applications to make sure they're not blocking the MIDI port)
  2. after installation, open the settings screen
  3. for virtual MIDI ports select 2 (or more)
  4. close the settings screen.
  5. In the Project Properties, scroll down to the MIDI Router
  6. draw these MIDI routes:
    1. LPD8->Bome Virtual 1
    2. LPD8->Bome Virtual 2
    3. Bome Virtual 1->LPD8
    4. Bome Virtual 2->LPD8
  7. Like that, all MIDI data from LPD8 is duplicated to the Virtual 1 and to Virtual 2 ports
  8. Conversely, data from Virtual 1 and Virtual 2 is merged to go to LPD8
  9. Open Live, use Virtual 1 Input and Output instead of the LPD8
  10. Open SSL, use Virtual 2 Input as Output instead of the LPD8
If there are unexpected side effects, you can also filter or modify the MIDI messages going to each individual application... that's where the fun starts (but also where it gets technical).

Finally got around to trying this, and it's a no go (so far). SSL groups by controller for enabling midi devices, so both BMT 1 and BMT 2 get selected together. Enabling both in SSL, of course blocks Live on both ports... Hopefully an easy workaround exists.
