Routing question

I thought I got it but I am not sure now anymore:

I want to connect my Arturia Beatstep via Bome's Translator with my DAW (Reaper).
In Reaper the input is connected to Translator #1.
I guess in the "MIDI Router" diagram on the left are the MIDI inputs on the right the outputs.
A line has been drawn from Beatstep output to Translator #1 input.
But when I remove this connection and push a pad on the Beatstep I still see MIDI-in flashing on Translator #1; how is this possibe?
Do I (also) have to connect Translator #1 with my DAW in MT because I have no incoming signals in my DAW?

So if you're just passing data through from the BeatStep to Reaper you need to connect the BeatStep In port in MT to MIDI Translator Virtual Port 1 Output. And then, in reaper activate MT Virtual Port 1 input. That should connect them correctly.
