MT kpress out not being trapped by AutoIt?

Downloaded the trial to see if midi note on Reaper track could be translated into shift-F by Midi Translator and then trapped by AutoIt. MT log shows midi note in and says shift-F is being generated. With AutoIt as top application it apparently sees no shift-F. I have confirmed that if I press shift-F on the computer keyboard AutoIt does respond (HotKeys and Alert message). Looking for pointers on how to start debugging. tia.

Does AutoIt see any other keystrokes? For example, will it see just F?

Tried with ESC which successfully exited AutoIt, tried with Z = my AutoIt debug trigger - worked, and then reentered ShiftF which now works flawlessly ... so not sure how I messed it up the first time ..... I think all this is going to work - thanks for your help, Mick.
