A user wants to know how to redefine the transport buttons on the alphatrack to use them as switch betwen "off", "read/write", "touch/latch/TouchLatch", and "additive trim".

He also wants to know if it's true that the display updates would not be working anymore if using Midi Translator.

First of all, in previous versions of MT, it was difficult to let MT be a 2-way filter in between MIDI controller (e.g. alphatrack) and software (Protools). However, since version 1.7, you can do it easily in MT:

Start off with this "cabling" (you need MT Pro 1.7 or later):

Midi Translator:
MIDI IN: Alphatrack and MT Virtual In 1
MIDI OUT: MT Virtual Out 1 und Alphatrack

ProTools:
MIDI IN: From Midi Translator 1
MIDI OUT: To Midi Translator 1

Then draw these connections in the MT's MIDI Router:

Alphatrack IN -> MT Virtual Out 1
MT Virtual In 1 -> Alphatrack OUT

Now your Alphatrack should work without any problems, as if MT wasn't put in between (i.e. MT should be completely transparent).

Now you can add translators to MT using the usual scheme (check out MT's tutorials for how to create a translator entry and how to know the MIDI message using MIDI Capture).

If you want to modify MIDI messages that go to Protools, make sure to check "swallow MIDI message" in the Incoming action. Otherwise, the original MIDI message from the Alphatrack will be sent to Protools, too.

Let me know how it works!
